The first round of the 2007 Xtreme Karting Cadet Championship was held on Sunday 28th of January.
After racing in 4 heats, 21 drivers progressed through to 4 finals (A/B/C and D finals), based on points scored from their finishing position in each of the heats.
The new championship provided some exciting racing - with lots of overtaking and good driving on display! A number of drivers were racing in their first Grand Prix - and judging by the smiles on their faces they all enjoyed it!
Craig Arch clinched the first win of the 2007 championship, after starting the A final on pole position and maintaining his lead throughout the race to win. Bryan Webster pushed hard throughout the final race, but just couldnt squeeze past. Craig Pedan finished in third place, after Hayden Walker was penalised a place for pushing a bit too hard and forcing a driver wide. Hayden finished in fourth with the fastest lap of the day (21.50secs), with Elliot Griffiths closely behind in fifth place. Ross Agnew was black flagged in the A final after a warning for contact with other karts.
The B final was won by Adam English, with Craig Mitchell closely behind in second place. Fraser MacSporran came through to finish in third, overtaking Stafan Vlahos who did well in his first Grand Prix to finish in fourth place! John Martin finished in fifth place - and was the highest finishing cadet kart driver of the day!
The C final was won by Stuart Hamilton, with Peter Henderson second, Calum Barrett third, Carl Obrian fourth and Liam Pow fifth.
The D final was won by Martin Comrie, with Andrew McLaren finishing in second, David McLaren in third (who did well to come from fifth on the grid!), Jack Marshall fourth and Gordon Curry fifth.
